An Introduction

What job has all the responsibilities of a nurse, janitor, secretary, receptionist with all the pay of an entry level fast food worker? A veterinary assistant. The animal care industry is not all fluffy bunnies, cute kittens, and happy puppies. This is an industry with low pay, little benefits and a high rate of burnout.

However, I love my job and I can't imagine doing another. I love all animals and like most of their humans. I've been encouraged to put my "work stories" in writing. I hope you enjoy them. If anything I say offends you, there is an X at the top of your screen, click on it.

  1. I've been reading thru your stories and find them very entertaining. I worked as a kennel helper in a vet's office from when I was about 16 to 19. I feel for you. I wanted to be a vet or vet assistant, but it really isn't for everyone. I couldn't handle watching surgeries, so I realized it wasn't for me! So I went into forestry!

But I love animals and have a lot of respect for vets and especially vet assistants!
